Clare Vandeleur is a composer and musician with a portfolio of work that extends across advertising and film. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, she has grown her body of work over four years from the strong base received at AFDA Johannesburg, where her graduation film, Ana, Patrick and Nicolas won a SAFTA for best student short in 2013.

Clare scored her first feature film in 2017, Meerkat Maantuig, which has been nominated for and has won awards across film festivals worldwide including “Best Women’s Film” at the Calcutta International Film Festival and the SAFTA for best cinematography. 

Clare received her diploma in Cello Performance from the ABRSM in 2012 and has since played many different genres with a variety of groups and musicians including the MIAGI Orchestra, Julian Redpath and the The African Renaissance Ensemble.

Clare’s passion is making music for a visual or a story in any form, while innovation and incorporating experimental music and different genres into her compositions keeps the fire of her craft burning brightly.
