Clare Vandeleur is a composer and musician with a portfolio of work that extends across advertising and film. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, she has grown her body of work over four years from the strong base received at AFDA Johannesburg, where her graduation film, Ana, Patrick and Nicolas won a SAFTA for best student short in 2013.

Clare scored her first feature film in 2017, Meerkat Maantuig, which has received 3 awards and 8 nominations across film festivals worldwide including “Best Women’s Film” at the Calcutta International Film Festival.  After a lifetime of playing the cello (which she has her Performers Diploma), she has toured South Africa with ghost-folk musician Julian Redpath and Europe with the MIAGI Youth Orchestra.

Clare’s passion is making music for a visual or a story in any form, while innovation and incorporating experimental music and different genres into her compositions keeps the fire of her craft burning brightly.
